(old pic. funny pic.) The other day Mom and I ate lunch with Tekia at school. Her friend Chynna, who happens to be black, was sitting with us. I overheard the following conversation between Kia and Chynna. . .
Chynna: Is that your sister?
Kia: Yes.
Chynna: But she's blonde!
Kia: Mm-hmm.
Chynna: (whispering) Is she white?
We've gotten our fair share questions over the years, but that's definitely the first time anyone has questioned whether I was white or black! Hilarious. Poor, confused little Chynna. I know she's seen Mom lots of times. Has she thought Mom was black this whole time? Or did she just see Tekia and Jamal and think Mom produced brown children? Who knows. Either way, it was a funny little talk.
Guess we need to re-purchase (it's gotten lost) Is That Your Sister? for Tekia and her friends.

That pic is precious! And it's funny how kid's minds work. Once at church I was saying "when I adopted..." and these 2 little girls looked at me and looked at my kids and said "they're adopted?"
