sad weekend

**Edited because I just remembered that I've actually posted a funny story about Micah on my blog before. Click here to read about Micah's discovery of our bunny friend Nimpra.

Many of you have already heard this news. I haven't felt like posting about it and honestly don't feel like it now, but many prayers are needed. Last Thursday night, my friend Micah went missing. Friday was very long, surreal day that ended with the news that Micah was dead. Yesterday her husband Thomas was charged with second degree murder. The story is here.

For those of you wondering, Micah and I went to the same nursing school, but she was about a year ahead of me and we really didn't meet until she and Thomas moved to Memphis. One of our teachers introduced us to help Micah get connected in Memphis. We ended up going to church together (for a while) and working together (for a while). She worked in labor and delivery while I worked in the well-baby nursery. It was always fun for us when she'd bring a new baby up to the nursery and it ended up being one I took care of. :-) Micah was such a kind person with a precious, gentle soul. God used her to bless the lives of many, and I look forward to seeing her again someday.

I feel like this is a movie. I hate scary movies. I'm so tired of turning on the news and seeing one friend's missing persons picture and another friend's mug shot. I'm ready for the swine flu to take over the news again. And if I'm ready to hear about the swine flu again, I can't imagine how those closest to Micah and Thomas must feel.

Please pray for these families and all those affected by this tragedy. Pray for the parents who have to explain this news to their children. Pray for my friends who spent last Thursday night helping Thomas "search" for Micah. Pray for Thomas.

I just have no words. David does:

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18

We serve a God who can hear and heal all. Great is His faithfulness.
