What a difference a year makes!

“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” ―Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today is my mom's birthday (and MLK day). I thought the above quote was appropriate. We are still in awe of how far Trish has come since this time last year!
Here was Trish on her birthday last year...

Can you tell that she felt horrible and was totally faking that smile? Here she is today (with her sister/my aunt Bernie) - looking and feeling better than ever!

(Okay, this was actually taken at our tacky-themed family Christmas a few weeks ago, but you get the idea. Mom looked the same today...only with no tacky.)

What a difference a year makes! Well, a year with no cancer, no chemo, and lots of prayers, that is. We are so thankful. Every birthday is truly a reason to celebrate. :-)

Happy Birthday to a woman whose "soul generated by love" continues to show me how to "be great" on a daily basis! Love you, Mom!
