You know you're posting too many cancer updates when you start titling your posts with the date.
Anyway, here's what happened today . . . Mom talked to Dr. Behrman, who had talked to Dr. Tauer. Dr. T is fine with us pursuing nanoknife, and Dr. B contacted the people at Baptist in Little Rock to get the process started. By the end of the day, Mom had talked to another one of Dr. B's patients who just had the procedure done in Little Rock and also talked to someone from Baptist. The lady at Baptist said to send Mom's scans ASAP; so after a trip to West Clinic and Fed Ex, the scans are now on their way to Little Rock and should be there in the morning. The doctor will review Mom's scans and decide if she is a candidate for nanoknife treatment. We hope to hear something by the end of the week.
What happened to Louisville, you ask? Well, Little Rock seems like the logical choice for us since we have family and friends there, and it's obviously closer. The doctor in Louisville is very well-known for this procedure (well, as well-known as anyone can be with a treatment that no one's heard of), so we were glad to hear that the doctor in Little Rock does refer patients to Louisville if he feels like he can't get the whole tumor. The Louisville doctor is an oncological surgeon, and the one in Little Rock is an interventional radiologist. We may still contact Louisville, but at this point we're leaning toward Little Rock and trusting God to show us where to go.
Mom's pain has started creeping back as she's been weaning off her steroids. She talked to Dr. T's nurse about this and will be starting another round of steroids tomorrow. At this point, the nerve block is still scheduled for next Tuesday, the 12th, but of course that is subject to change.
Keep praying about all the decisions being made!
