Today's been a rough one for my mom. She got a few hours of restless sleep last night once her pain meds kicked in (or maybe it was the Benadryl . . . ), but woke up in severe pain again this morning. She talked to Dr. Frederick's office and he said it sounds like she has post-ERCP pancreatitis (which, by the way, was the diagnosis I made last night. I may be a baby nurse and know nothing about ERCPs, but I can google with the best of 'em). Dr. F called her in some more pain medication, and said that, as long she didn't run any fever or have any nausea, we'd try to manage this at home with pain meds. Mom spent most of the day sleeping or trying to sleep. If you know my mother, you know she's not one to lie around and do nothing all day . . . so you know she really wasn't feeling well! By mid-afternoon we had finally gotten a handle on her pain, and tonight she's doing much better than she was last night. :-) She still feels uncomfortable and has virtually no appetite, but we're making progress. Still no fever or nausea - thank goodness! Dr. F said that this complication usually lasts 48 hours or less, so hopefully she'll start feeling more normal tomorrow. We're praying she does, because she and my dad are supposed to meet with the surgeon tomorrow afternoon.
So tonight . . .
- Pray for Mom's pain to continue to decrease and for this pancreatitis to go away completely within the next couple of days.
- Pray for her appointment with Dr. Behrman. Pray that God will give Dr. Behrman wisdom as he reviews Mom's case and that he would be able and willing to do this surgery! Pray that Mom will feel comfortable with Dr. B and confident that he is the surgeon we want. Pray that my parents will leave this appointment with good, hopeful news and peace in their hearts.
