sweet baby Chase

I haven't posted pictures of my youngest nephew in a while. He's a such a happy boy. And such a BIG boy! So chubby and cuddly and smiley. :-) He'll be 7 months old tomorrow. Shelby and I attempted to get 6-month pics of him a couple weeks ago.

He loves bath time.

However, he was not too crazy about picture time.

But he perked up after a bottle!

Anyone think he looks like his daddy? (Jared's on the right, at 5 months old, with our friend Ryan)
Or maybe his grandaddy?

What is with this kid?

Jamal rarely spends his afternoons in our house. Usually he's either playing outside or at a neighorhood friend's house. So this is our afternoons tend to go. . .

(phone rings)

"Hello?"

"Is Jamal there?"

"No, he's not."

"Oh. . . will you tell him Sarah called?"

"Sure. Bye."

(10 minutes later)

(phone rings)

"Hello?"

"Is Jamal there?"

"No, he's not."

"Oh. . . will you tell him Alyse called?"

"Sure. Bye."

(10 minutes later)

(phone rings)

"Hello?"

"Is Jamal there?"

"No, he's not."

"Oh. . . will you tell him Shayla called?"

"Sure. Bye."

(10 minutes later)

(phone rings)

"Hello?"

"Is Jamal there?"

"No, he's not."

"Oh. . . will you tell him Harleigh called?"

"Sure. Bye."

(10 minutes later)

(phone rings)

"Hello?"

"Is Jamal there?"

"No, he's not."

"Oh. . . will you tell him Nicole called?"

"Sure. Bye."

And if he hasn't called them back after about two hours, this starts all over again. This is out of control!

Anyone know a good secretary?

Baby Ethan *update*

Update: Ethan went home this morning at 11:37. Please keep Ben & Becky in your prayers.

It's been a crazy week and I have lots to post about. I have a Dad post to do and I wanted to do something for MLK day (well, the 2nd MLK day) yesterday (and also U of M day at work!). But right now I just want to ask everyone who reads to pray big, boldy, and fervently for little Ethan. I've posted about him before. HIs parents went to Harding and his dad has come to our Wednesday night Bible study several times since they've been in Memphis. I haven't seen him since before Christmas, though, because he hasn't been able to leave St. Jude as often. Ethan was diagnosed with leukemia at 2 months old and is now 16 months old. I believe it is a virus of some sort rather than the leukemia that has made him so sick this time (his last bone marrow aspirate showed that the percentage of leukemia in his blood was going down), but he can't fight it because he has no immune system. He's in ICU at St. Jude and on an oscillator (a very fast ventilator); his lungs aren't doing any work. It's looking like his kidneys are shutting down, so he's not peeing off all the fluid that's building up in his body (they're particulary concerned with the fluid in the lungs and around the heart). Things don't look good. Please pray for him ASAP! Check Ethan's site - www.ethanpowell.com - for updates. If you have trouble getting through the site, just keep trying. There are thousands of others checking on him frequently, so sometimes there are traffic jams.

an oldie, but a goodie - done by Ethan's dad, Ben

Paw Paw (4/1/08)

Jared and me cleaning fish with Paw Paw

Paw Paw got to go home today! His doctor came by around 3am last night (seriously) and told him that he didn't see anything significant on the heart cath and that he could go home today. He was home by lunch time, with "enough medicines for an army." He was already on several medications, and he came home with a few new ones, including shots that he has to give himself for 5 days. I went over there and gave him his shot tonight and tried to help them figure out all the new medicines. He goes back to the doctor in one week. Thanks for all your prayers for Paw Paw! You might need to say a prayer for he and Grandmother tomorrow as she'll probably be giving him his shots!
