Stuffed with Hugs

I recently learned of the Stuffed with Hugs day at Build-A-Bear Workshop. Every year, Build-A-Bear has a day on which guests can make bears for free, and those bears are donated to some sort of children's cause. Well, this year's Stuffed with Hugs day will be this Saturday and the bears will be given to children waiting to be adopted! Beautiful. What a wonderful way to teach kids how to help other kids. Agape kids will be receiving some of these special teddy bears. Here's something from Build-A-Bear's site:

Join us for the seventh annual Stuffed with Hugs™ event and help make 50,000 teddy bears for children around the world awaiting a forever home. On May 19, 2007, the first 200 Guests to visit any Build-A-Bear Workshop® store worldwide can make a special teddy bear for FREE that will be donated to the Joint Council on International Children’s Services (Joint Council). For children waiting to be adopted or those who have already found a forever family through international adoption, a teddy bear companion can often provide the special love and comfort needed to make their days brighter.

Joint Council will help us deliver the bears to domestic and international organizations that provide services for children in need of permanent, safe and loving homes, including adoption agencies, adoptive parent support groups, group homes for children and child welfare advocacy organizations.

According to the Joint Council, there are currently more than 143 million orphans around the world. In the United States, more than 300,000 children enter the foster care system each year and currently, there are 114,000 children waiting to be adopted. Joint Council Members help facilitate 80 percent of the international adoptions taking place each year and serve more than 85,000 children and families annually.

Each Guest who participates in Stuffed with Hugs: Hugs Sweet Hugs will receive a Build-A-Bear Workshop coupon worth $3 off a $15 purchase
.

I didn't go build a bear, but I did go do the bone marrow thing. We'll see what happens with that. So many places were doing it, I pray that a match will turn up somewhere!
