one month later

Today Miss Jordan is one month old! She had to make a trip to the pediatrician this morning due to some umbilical cord issues (no big deal - got it taken care of), so we were able to get an official 1-month weight. She now weighs . . . drumroll please . . . 8 pounds, 8 ounces! She's gone from being in the 5th percentile to the 25th! Needless to say, she's a good eater. ;-) She seems to have had some tummy issues lately, but apparently they haven't hindered her weight gain any! We're on formula #3, and it finally seems to be making a difference. She seems to be having less fussy periods than she was having before. She still has her moments, but they don't occur after every single feeding like they were a couple weeks ago. Now if we can just get Jordan to realize that nighttime is for sleeping! Fortunately, my mom and I take turns getting up with her at night, so neither of us get too sleep-deprived.

In other news, Jordan started smiling last week! Her smiles are few and far between right now and very quick, so I have no photographic proof yet. But I promise she can do it. Hopefully I'll catch a smile on camera soon. For now, I'll have to settle for these sweet, sleepy photos we took today at her 1-month photo shoot (which she was simply thrilled to participate in, by the way).

I finally started taking pictures of her with her paci in her mouth, because I wasn't convinced we were ever going to get it away from her.

But we did. :-) I have wanted to try this pose forever, but have never actually gotten a decent shot with it until today. Many thanks to my mom, who is an expert baby-positioner and backdrop-holder.

So what if we did let her sleep there for another hour and a half because she was finally quiet and we didn't want to wake her up?

And in case someone wanted to see her eyes, I thought I'd post a couple from our 2-week photo shoot in the gown she wore home from the hospital. You can tell she's growing, because the sleeves are more like 3/4 length now, ha.

As far as a foster care update goes, I don't really have one other than she's still here. We weren't originally expecting to have her this long (not that it's been a really long time - we just thought her placement with us was going to be very short-term), but, as we've learned in the past, God's timing is often different than ours. We also know that His timing is always perfect timing, and for that we are thankful. Please continue to keep Jordan and her situation in your prayers. We are enjoying her here while we can, and we look forward to seeing what God has in store for her future!
