Paw Paw - 1.31.10

me and Ashley with our grandfather and her grandfather in 1984

Just wanted to post a quick update on Paw Paw. He's finally home! He went home on Friday morning - thankfully right before the worst of the snow/ice hit. As much as he didn't want to be there, he made a lot of progress during his two weeks in rehab. He's walking with a walker (his latest one has a fancy arm rest for his right arm) and even walked with a cane some while in physical therapy. They finally started therapy on his right arm last week, but he hasn't seen a lot of improvement yet. In fact, since he's been home his hand has already started to swell again, which is discouraging. I'm glad he's back in his own bed now, but I wish he could still have that PT and OT every day. Soon he'll start having therapy at home 2 - 3 times a week, so hopefully we'll see even more improvement once that starts. His surgeon said last week that it was still too early to tell if the surgery helped or not; we just have to wait and see. We're hopeful that, with more time and therapy, Paw Paw will still regain the use of his right hand and foot. Thanks for all your prayers and please keep them coming! :-)
