prayers

Sorry for all the doom and gloom, but I know Jared & Shelby would appreciate everyone's prayers about this situation. When Shelby and the kids got to to church on Wednesday night, they saw an SUV and a police car in the street. The SUV had hit an elderly couple. The couple was on their way to church (the parking lots are across the street from the church). The woman died at the scene, and the man died later at the hospital. Their son is one of Central's deacons, so he and his family were there that night.

Here's the story from a Little Rock news station. Click here for the link to this story and a video.

A Little Rock couple died Wednesday night in a pedestrian accident outside a downtown church.

State Police say Boyd Dorsey, 80, of Mabelvale and his wife, Norma Dorsey, 76, were apparently crossing the street when they were hit by a car driven by James Hatch of Little Rock.

It happened just before 7:00 p.m., near 6th & State streets as services were getting underway at the Central Church of Christ located at 823 6th Street.

Police say Mrs. Dorsey was dead at the scene, and Mr. Dorsey died after being taken to the hospital.

A police report indicates it was raining at the time of that accident.

Jared said he could hear the driver of the SUV sobbing in the police car. My heart hurts for him and for the Dorsey family. Please keep them and the whole family at Central in your prayers.

Thoughts and prayers are with all involved. So sad. Can you get an address for the deacon so that we can send a card?

Hi, I am the Dorsey's sister from Iowa. It was my parents who passed. I would hesitate to post my brother's address online but it is available at the church. Thank you for your concern, thoughts and prayers. This is a terrible time for my brothers and their families as well as us all.,

What a tragedy for all involved. It reminds me of my friend's daughter who was hit and killed. I often think of the driver and how he has to carry the burden of that accident for the rest of his life. I will remember them in our family prayer tonight...
