snow!

In the wake of the tragedy on Lester Street, I found myself praying that God would reveal himself to the Memphis community. And did He ever!

I walked out of the hospital last night to find everything covered in snow. If it's possible for a hospital parking lot to be beautiful, ours was last night. I was actually grateful for the opportunity to drive home at 25mph because it gave me the chance to admire the breath-taking scenery around me. We got about 5 1/2 inches of snow at our house. Our day today was filled with snow balls, snow men, and snow cream. I had to sneak out last night and get pics of everything before the kids trampled all over everything this morning. (please excuse the no-flash fuzziness on the nighttime pics)

Me with Kia and her best friend Rumi, who basically lives here, too. We realize Tekia is dressed like a boy. She doesn't have a good "snow coat", so that one is an old one of Jamal's.
the girls working on their snow man
the boys (Jamal and neighbors Hunter and Zack) with their snow man
working on their "fort"
The snow cream was a hit with the girls! The boys were too busy building their fort to stop and have some.
As you can see, our house tends to be the neighborhood hangout on days like today. We're not really sure how to stop this. We've tried being really mean to all the kids that come over and that's not working. They keep coming back anyway.

Yeah, right, like you or your mom could be really mean!

Wow, that is such a tragedy. I heard of it briefly but haven't watched the news enough to catch up. So sad.

However, those pictures are so incredibly cute! The close-up of Tekia with her eyes closed is probably one of my all-time favs of her! So cute!

I hope one day to be as easy going and cool as your Mom to be the neighborhood hangout!
