Those were Dr. T's words when he walked into our exam room today! He said the lymph node in Mom's abdomen was so small that their "hardest CT reader" could barely see it. So the Tykerb/Herceptin combo is definitely working on Mom's breast cancer! Praise God! The enlarged lymph nodes in Mom's chest still look the same, but Dr. T's not as concerned about those since they've remained unchanged for almost a year now.
And there is no sign of pancreatic cancer anywhere in my mom's body! How crazy/awesome is that? We are just so thankful and amazed.
Trish again got in trouble for losing weight, so if you see her, give her a Twinkie or something. She's also running low on potassium, so Dr. T's prescribing some. Both of these problems are likely due to the GI side effects of the Tykerb. The plan for now is for Trish to continue with the Tykerb/Herceptin - maybe for 4-6 months, depending on how she's tolerating it. She's currently tolerating it okay. Let's just say she has more good days than bad. It's definitely no walk in the park, but she says can put up with it if it's working. After stopping the Tykerb, she'll probably continue to get Herceptin every three weeks like she always has. Next scan is in three months!
And little Lydia got good news, too . . . the scare that resulted in a late-night tranfser to LeBonheur (children's hospital) last night turned out to be a false alarm! Lydia's doing well now and will have a head ultrasound tonight to check for brain bleeds. So pray for a clean ultrasound! Also pray for Yvonne as she's still having issues with high blood pressure and can't be released from the hospital yet, and for Petrick as he tries to juggle two kids at home, one kid in the hospital, and a wife at another hospital.
Must go to sleep now. Thanks so much for praying with us! We are so thankful.
