merry, merry

Yep, it's Whipple week! If you haven't already heard, my mom is having her Whipple surgery this Friday, the 17th. Surgery is scheduled to start at 7am and will last 6-8 hours. I described the surgery in detail (at least in as much detail as this baby nurse can) here if you'd like to know more about it. It is our prayer that Dr. Behrman and his team will be able to remove every bit of this cancer and that my mom will be completely cancer-free this time next week! (And that she will stay that way for the rest of her very long life!)

The blocks in the picture above live in our kitchen. They normally say "Welcome" or "Happy Birthday" or some type of seasonal greeting, but Mom thought a change was in order this week. I thought "Happy Whipple Week" had more of a ring to it, but we didn't have enough p's for that. So "Merry Whipple Week", it is.

Merry Whipple Week, everyone. :-)
