Guess what didn't happen in this room today? Regurgitation - that's what! (Side note: When I was little and our family got our first computer - you know, the green &black screen kind - we kids thought it was really fun to use the thesaurus to look up words like "throw up". And that's the first time I remember hearing the word "regurgitation.") Okay, back to Trish . . .
It was a good day! Mom has eaten a tiny bit of every meal, as well as a few small snacks in between meals, and kept everything down! Dr. B took her off IV fluids (again). Walking is so much easier for her now that she doesn't have to drag that IV pole along; she's pretty much walking normally. She's still getting IV antibiotics, so she's not totally free of the IV just yet. Speaking of antibiotics, Mom's white count was normal today. :-) Dr. B hasn't said if he's sending her home on antibiotics or not. He did say that he thinks Mom will go home with at least one of her drains, so the nurse showed us how to care for those today. And going home will hopefully be happening on Saturday! At least that's what Dr. B's aiming for and what Tekia prayed for at dinner tonight. :-)
Today is Dr. Tauer's birthday. He usually comes by every morning around 6:45, so last night I got him this awesome "happy birthday" balloon for him to carry around with him as he made his rounds. Then we found out he's taking a long weekend and wouldn't be by today. So we have a nice birthday balloon if anyone wants one. It even comes with a weight and curly ribbon.
Dr. Tauer said (yesterday) that they'll get Mom back in the office soon. We're not real sure what "soon" means, but we hope it's soon so she can start her Herceptin back. I'm sure we won't know anything about whether or not Mom's eligible for Tarveca until that appointment.
Prayer requests . . . more of the same . . . that this eating thing will continue to improve for Mom . . . that she will remain infection-free . . . that she will be able to take Tarveca with her upcoming chemo . . . that she will remain free of both breast and pancreatic cancer . . . that God will get the glory . . . and that Mom and the rest of us will trust Him and find peace in Him.

Great report....so thankful that she was able to eat and keep it down...praying that she will get to go home this weekend...know she will rest better and be so glad to be home...
